St. Mary's College

A Mass of Thanksgiving to mark the centenary of the founding of the College will take place in the Cathedral at 12 noon on Saturday, 25th August. On this day one hundred years ago, the 25th of August 1912, the College was blessed and officially opened by Bishop O’Dea. This Mass will mark this important event and open the centenary.

A special blog has been set up at to provide past pupils of the College, with information on various events which are planned for St. Mary’s Centenary Year. These include the Monsignor McDonough Cup Golf Classic (Single Stableford) on August 22nd, a Centenary Hurling Blitz on 15th of September, a Family Fun Day on 16th of September, and a Past Pupil’s Gala Dinner in the Galway Bay Hotel on Saturday 20th of October.

The school has also offered a number of Centenary academic, sport and music scholarships. Galway Maths Grinds takes this opportunity to congratulate St.Mary’s on reaching this milestone and wish them continued success in their educational endeavours.
